Hammond Named Louisiana's Cleanest City...AGAIN!

Downtown Hammond
The Louisiana Garden Club Federation has named Hammond, LA as one of the cleanest cities in the state of Louisiana for 2012.  This marks the 6th consecutive year that the City of Hammond has been named one of Louisiana's 10 Cleanest Cities.  This year Hammond won category H, which includes cities with a population in the range of 15,000 to 49,999 residents.  The LGCF committee was very complimentary of Hammond and said that during the judging of the contest, which took place between April and May, the judges were even impressed off of the designated routes.

Each year the LGCF awards the Cleanest City in the state in 10 different categories based on population.  Cities are judged on specified rules and in accordance to the cleanest city score sheet scale of points.  The 10 winners will receive an engraved plaque as the district winner in June.

The LGCF, which is a member of the National Garden Clubs, has sponsored the state wide  "Cleanest City Contest" since 1958.  The aim of the contest is to instill civic pride in the individual citizens and thus, improve the appearance of towns and cities.

Keep up the great work Team Hammond and all the citizens of this great city.  Hammond, LA...proud to call it home!
