The Southeastern Police Department will be hosting a Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) self-defense class for the women of our community on the weekend of August 3, 4, and 5. The class will be open to female Southeastern students, employees and their guests who are 12 years of age or older.
The RAD class will be held at a confidential location on or near Southeastern's main campus in Hammond. The three 4-hour sessions (total of 12 hours) for this class will include Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, and Sunday afternoon. Attendance at all three sessions is necessary to complete the course.
The RAD System of Physical Defense is currently being taught at many colleges and universities and in communities throughout the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The growing, widespread acceptance of this system is primarily due to the ease, simplicity and effectiveness of the tactics, solid research, and unique teaching methodology.
There is no charge for current students or employees. A guest of a student or employee can enroll for $25. Space is limited so early registration is recommended. For more information or to register for the class, send an e-mail with your name and phone number to Officer Scott Huff, UPD (scott.huff@selu.edu) or call the Southeastern Police Department at 549-2222.
